Statement
In Fall of 2020, during the height of the Covid 19 crisis, I created a series of pieces inspired by the prayer of St. John Henry Newman; “Peace at Last”.
This artwork is a redo. I scrapped the old one and recreated it in fall of 2023. I wanted to focus on the lushness of the marsh, the quiet and loudness of the marsh, the many layers of textures and colors of the marsh.
It is a view of the marsh at Ocracoke, NC. It is a place where my family has gone for a very long time. When I look over the marsh, I think of beauty, the stillness, the marsh as a giant filter and I prayerfully consider God’s hand with a brush.
